Lieon is a Doctor of Physical Therapy graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He also has his Master’s of Education in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Austin. Lieon has completed numerous of post graduate courses including manual therapy courses at Ola Grimsby Institute and orthopedic courses with Dr. George Davies. In March 2011, Lieon received his Certification of Anatomical Acupuncture and CAFCI (Certificate of the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute) designation to provide acupuncture/Dry needling as part of his therapy. Lieon’s rehabilitation interests include orthopedic and sport injury rehabilitation, return to work/sport programs, vestibular rehabilitation, and home health rehabilitation. Lieon is also fluent in conversational Cantonese in building rapport with those who speak this language.
Since 2001, Lieon has been involved in rehabilitation services. For 3 years, Lieon has worked as a registered kinesiologist, under the direction of occupational therapists and physiotherapists, in providing clients with home, gym and aquatics exercise programs in a community based setting. In 2003, Lieon coached girl’s volleyball for Richmond’s Air Attack volleyball club as well as coached Nokia Dragonhearts Dragon Boat team. While completing his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, Lieon received valuable orthopedic, arthritis and cardiopulmonary experience at the Duke Center for Living in Durham, North Carolina and Swedish Medical Centre in Seattle, Washington. In addition, Lieon served as programming chairman as a member of the National Association of Asian American Professionals for the 2006 Triangle’s Asian American Health Fair held in Raleigh, NC. From 2004-2007, Lieon competed for Duke’s Men’s club volleyball team and received an 1st team all conference division 1 player nomination during the 2006 EIVA championships.
After graduating from Duke University in 2007, Lieon worked as a staff physical therapist at Apple Physical Therapy in Auburn and Sammamish, Washington for 2 years. In January 2010, Lieon continued his private practice work in orthopedics with Steveston Village Orthopedic and Sports Physiotherapy clinic as well as provided orthopedic home health services for Community Therapists in Vancouver, B.C. Starting in May 2010, Lieon dedicates his time providing his physiotherapy services at Marpole Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Clinic. Outside of the clinic, Lieon continues to offer personal training, health education seminars and home health services.
During Lieon’s spare time, Lieon enjoys playing competitive grass and indoor volleyball, basketball, softball, golf and football. When not playing sports, you might find Lieon spending time with his wife and brand new daughter, playing poker, traveling, updating his blog or cheering on his beloved Longhorns during college football season!
